Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments Candlelight Service

This Hallmark Ornament Series featured different churches that would would glow softly through their stained glass windows when connected to a miniature Christmas light string. The Candlelight Services Hallmark Keepsake Ornament Series began in 1998 with The Stone Church, and ended in 2009 with The Old Brick Church. In 2017 Hallmark Ornaments came out with another ornaments named Candlelight Services that is a nice addition to the series. Each of the churches in this series represents a style of architecture from a different time period, location, or tradition.

Colonial Church….

A unique ornament that symbolizes the joyful celebrations held in churches across the land, when families gather with their friends and neighbors on Christmas Eve. Glowing with light, the churches in this series suggest heartwarming scenes filled with music and pageantry of the season. The Colonial Church was first available in 2004.  Plug ornament into any light bulb socket on a standard miniature tree light string for optional lighting effect.

2004_colonial_church.jpg

Countryside Church….

Countryside Church was first available in 2008 and was modeled after late-Victorian or Gothic Revival churches, the steeples of white clapboard buildings like this one are visible across the Midwestern countryside as reminders of hard work and good faith. These churches, with their creaking floorboards, weathered roofs, and stained glass, are the homes of more modern congregations today. But their Christmas services are times of old-fashioned togetherness, warmth, and rejoicing echoes of the pioneering faithful who built them over a century ago. Attach to miniature light string for optional lighting effect.

Colonial Church….

Since colonial days, New England families and their neighbors have been gathering to celebrate Christmas in white, wood frame churches. This 1999 Hallmark Keepsake Ornament was inspired by designs from the 1800’s that include an open bell tower, clock, and weather vane. Light glows steadily and softly from within the ornament, illuminating the windows and reflecting the beauty and hope of the Christmas season.

1999_colonial_church.jpg

Adobe Church….

Adobe Church is a unique ornament that demonstrates the ability of people of faith to adapt church architecture to the materials at hand. In the great Southwest and southern California, mission-style structures crafted of adobe brick serve as houses of worship. Light glows softly and continuously from the windows of this charming ornament, adding a bit of Magic to the Christmas season. Plug ornament into any light bulb socket on a standard miniature tree light system.

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments – Barbie Collection – A Memoir

Ever since I can remember my entire family has always had a Christmas tree that is filled with Hallmark ornaments.  The tree was always special because of the variety of ornaments and each meant something special to someone in my family.  I had two brothers and two sisters so Christmas was always exciting for the family.   As part of our tradition, we would always get the daughter and son ornaments as well as the an ornament from a series that was our own collection.  My collection is the Barbie Hallmark ornament series.

Each year, I look forward to seeing what the new ornament will be there are always favorites and each year you compare it to the last.  The ornaments from Hallmark are a tradition in my family and is a tradition that will be carried on with my family of my own someday and I can’t wait to put my new barbie ornament on the tree this year.

Barbie Debut 1994

Barbie Debut 1994

One of my favorites is the first ornament in the series.  This classic Barbie dressed in her black and white striped swimsuit was released in 1994 and became the first of many in the collection.  This was one of my first ornaments that I was given.

I remember hanging her up for the first time – her golden hair shined underneath the yellow lights.  I put her next to my brother’s Babe Ruth ornament.   I loved her so much that the next year, I asked for her brunette sister.

Holiday Barbie 2000

Holiday Barbie 2000

My second favorite Barbie ornament I got a few years later in 2000.  She was dressed in a flowing metallic silver dress that gleamed in the Christmas lights.  Her blonde hair was soft and I’d always brush it perfectly before I hung her up.  My younger sister was always so jealous of this ornament and I’d always catch her playing with it on Christmas Eve.

My memories of Hallmark’s Christmas Barbie ornaments will always have a treasured spot in my heart.  The entire Barbie Hallmark series brought me so much happiness each year.  I can’t wait till I have daughters of my own and I can pass these keepsakes on to them and tell them stories about each of them.  I can only hope that they will take as much joy in hanging each one carefully on the tree as I did when I was a little girl.
