When Barbie Made Her Comeback

Barbie has always been a popular Hallmark Keepsake Ornament series. In 2012 Hallmark lost the licensing agreement with Mattel and had to stop  making the Barbie Hallmark Ornaments. 2012 was going to be the last year Hallmark Ornaments would make Barbie. It wasn’t just the Barbie Ornaments that they had to stop making, they had to stop other popular series like Hot Wheels, Fisher Price, and G.I. Joe. Thankfully an agreement was made and all of these started back in 2015. Since coming back many of the old series of Barbie Keepsake Ornaments have continued.

The Come Back….

In 2015, when Hallmark Ornaments was able to start making ornaments after Mattel toys, they came back with 2013 and 2014 Celebration Barbie Ornament Set. Inspired by the 2013 and 2014 Holiday Barbie dolls, this Keepsake Ornament set is a must-have for collectors of all ages and the perfect way to celebrate the Barbie tradition of fabulous holiday fashions

A Christmas Story

A Christmas classic that has been enjoyed for generations is the 1983  movie A Christmas Story. Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments has a series for the movie of well known scenes and objects from the movie. This movie has become a family tradition to watch for some families and would make a great tradition to have on your Christmas tree.

One of the iconic symbols from the movie is the Leg Lamp that was displayed in the window. From the 2018 Hallmark Keepsake release they have the Leg Lamp.

1799QXI3106_thumbnail.jpg

Another well known part of the movie has the main character. Ralphie, dressed in a pink bunny costume. The first Hallmark ornament of this series, 2006, Bunny Suit, shows Ralphie in the pink bunny suit. This is a rare ornament to find due to its popularity.

hallmark_2006_bunny_suit.jpg

This pink bunny was also shown in the 2009 ornament, Ralphies Pink Nightmare.

2009ralphiespinknightmare.jpg

One of my favorite scenes is where Ralphie gets his tongue stuck to the cold pole. Every time we watch this it makes me laugh.

This 2006 Hallmark Ornament depicts the famous scene from A Christmas Story which proved that no kid in his right mind would turn down a double dog dare. I Double Dog Dare Ya, will make any A Christmas Story fan smile.

hallmark_2006_double_dare.jpg

Another Hallmark ornament from this scene is the 2010, Triple Dog Dare. The boys all huddled round Flick and Schwartz at recess, leaning in close so they wouldn’t miss a word. It was easy enough to brush off a simple dare, but it wasn’t just a dare or even a double dare. Oh, no. This was a dirty, rotten triple-dog dare. Flick had no choice – there was just no getting out of something like that!

You can see these Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments and the others in the series on our website http://www.hallmarkornaments.com.

Hope you have a great day whatever you are doing!

Madame Alexander Dolls

One of the longer running Hallmark Keepsake Ornament series is the Madame Alexander series that started in 1996. These ornaments look like the Madame Alexander dolls. An entire tree of these beautiful ornaments would make any doll lover or collector happy.

Where it all started….

As a little girl living above her father’s doll “hospital,” Madame Alexander (Beatrix Alexander Behrman) became fascinated with fashion dolls at an early age. She began designing handmade cloth dolls in the 1920’s. By the 1930’s she was creating composition dolls with painted features and sleep eyes. Cinderella- 1995 is the latest of the many lovely dolls in Madame Alexander collections since 1937. Here is the first in the series, 1996 Cinderella-1995, Madame Alexander #1.

1996_cinderella_madame_alex.jpg

The newest to the series….

From the 2018 Hallmark Ornament Collection comes Holidazzle, Madame Alexander #23. Dressed in holiday style, this sweet Christmas tree ornament depicts the 2017 Holidazzle doll wearing a sparkling red dress with gold and green trim. A headband with a poinsettia flower and tulle is the perfect finishing touch atop her long brunette tresses. 23rd in the Madame Alexander series, it’s a lovely collectible to display on your tree.

They even come in miniatures….

The 2006 Yankee Doodle and Celebrating, Madame Alexander is a set of 2 miniature Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments. These would look beautiful on a 4th of July tree or your Christmas tree.

Star Trek Themed Hallmark Ornaments

Star Trek Hallmark Ornaments 2018

If you are a Trekkie, or you have someone on your Christmas list who is, now is an excellent time to add to your collection. The Star Trek Hallmark ornaments collection began in 1991 and has been going strong ever since. The first Star Trek ornament was the 1991 Starship Enterprise Hallmark Ornament. In 2010, due to the popularity of the Star Trek line, Hallmark started the Star Trek Legends series, which began with Captain James T. Kirk as the headliner first in the series.

2018 Revealed…

Those Trekkie fans who can’t get enough have been waiting with baited breath to find out what the new releases for 2018 will be. The word is finally out. The 2018 collection will add six more ornaments to the mix. This year, Hallmark has even added one from the Star Trek animated series.

Star Trek Hallmark Ornaments Released in July 2018

In July of this year, Hallmark released the scene from “The Naked Time.” This fun ornament depicts a shirtless Sulu fencing Captain Kirk atop the Enterprise bridge. The ornament is a “magic” one and plays the dialogue from the movie, making it even more spectacular. Also, in July, the Starfleet tricorder was revealed from the Original Series. It too is a magic ornament that lights up and plays the original Trek dialogue. The third release in July was the Crossfield-class DSS Discovery, announced and anticipated since September 2017. Lastly, the Constitution-class USS Enterprise was a throwback from the original Hallmark ornament first released in 1991. It is the seventh TOS-Era Enterprise Hallmark ornament.

2018 Hallmark Ornaments at the San Diego ComicCon

Over the years, Hallmark wanted to make something super special for Star Trek, and decided to reserve a few of the Star Trek Hallmark ornaments as convention-only exclusives. For 2018, the ornament will feature the 45th-anniversary commemoration of Star Trek: The Animated Series. It is a two-pack ornament set that contains the alien crew member favorites from the show. Lt. Arex and Lt. M’Ress, the three-armed navigator, are the very first Star Trek Hallmark ornaments fashioned after the Animated Series.

Since the Animated Series ornament set will only be available as convention exclusives and not in Hallmark stores, it will make them some of the rarest and most valuable items in your Star Trek ornament collection for years to come. If you can get your hands on one, you will have a very select piece.

Peanuts Hallmark Ornaments

The Peanuts movies are classic holiday movies that are enjoyed every year by those young and old. The characters are recognized by many. Scenes from the Christmas movie are cherished and repeated often.

The Beginning of the Peanuts as Hallmark Ornaments…..

Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments started making ornaments of the Peanuts character back in 1977. The first ornament was a bulb showing a classic scene from the holiday classic where Lucy is listening to Schroeder play the piano and she is saying Merry Christmas.

The second Hallmark ornament that was released the same year is also a bulb. This one has the year, 1977, on it and Snoopy, Woodstock, and Linus admiring the beautifully decorated Christmas tree.

There are two other Peanuts Hallmark Ornaments that were released that year that are also bulbs. These also have classic scenes from the holiday movie classic.

As the Years Went On….

As the years went on the Hallmark ornaments showing the Peanuts characters continued to be bulbs with classic scenes from the movies. It was not until 1985 that the Hallmark Keepsake Ornament for the Peanuts characters was not a bulb. It was a Snoopy figurine. The Peanuts Hallmark Ornament bulbs continued for some years after but Hallmark also continued making the ornament figurines of the iconic characters. The 1989 Snoopy and Woodstock ornament shows Snoopy and Woodstock have fun stepping out, ‘Cause dancing for joy’s what the season’s about!

1989_snoopy_and_woodstock.jpg

There are several series within the Peanuts Hallmark Keepsake Series like The Peanuts Gang series. This series has all of the Peanuts Gang in individual Ornaments.

The series started off with dear sweet Charlie Brown. Charlie Brown, Peanuts Gang #1 has Charlie Brown with the snowman he built of himself.

1993_peanuts_gang.jpg

Here is Lucy, Peanuts Gang #2.

1994_peanuts_gang_2_lucy.jpgWill Lucy play a merry trick on good ole’ Charlie Brown?
Is Christmas in December? Will Santa come to town?

Classic Scenes from the Movies….

As the ornament continued to come from Hallmark they showed different iconic scenes from the holiday classic. One of my favorites is Lucy and her stand. The Holiday Advice Booth is a great addition to your Christmas tree and Peanuts Tree.

2003_holiday_advice_booth.jpgAre you suffering from Baking Burnout? Gift List Confusion? Mistletoe Phobia? Never fear. Lucy van Pelt is here. And she knows the answer to every questionâ??just ask her friends in the PEANUTS gang! Lucy loves giving advice almost as much as she loves hearing those “clinking nickels.” You’re in luck today, because “The Doctor is IN.”

Look for a continuation of this blog about the Hallmark Peanuts Characters later. For now, I’m off and back to work I go at The Ornament Factory!

Frosty Friends

The adorable collection, Frosty Friends, is the longest running and most popular collection from Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments.

When it all began……

The Frosty Friends series started back in the 1980 with the release of “A Cool Yule” Frosty Friends #1. This has Frosty, the Eskimo, and one of his pals sitting on top of an ice cube. The ice cube has Merry Christmas 1980 on it. This is a very rare and hard to find Hallmark Keepsake Ornament that is treasured by collectors.

1980_frosty_friends.jpg

This collection features a friendly Eskimo and his friends on their adventures throughout the years. The first few years Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments for this series are difficult to find but treasured in any collection.

Some Years have Special Additions to the Series…..

In 1990 the Frosty Friends series added a special collectible group of miniature Hallmark Keepsake Ornaments and a decorative wreath to display them. Each item is sold separately.
