Peanuts, a beloved American comic strip, written and illustrated by Charles M. Schulz, ran for fifty years in the daily and Sunday newspapers. The strip is considered to be one of the most popular in the history of the medium, with over 17,000 strips published. It has been described as “the most shining example of the American success story in the comic strip field,” based on the theme of “the great American un-success story.” The main character, Charlie Brown is portrayed as nervous and lacking self-confidence–being unable to fly a kite, win a baseball game or kick a football.

Peanuts has seen considerable success for its television specials–A Charlie Brown Christmas and It’s the Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown.
